《来历不明的孩子》的续集，百转千回的狗血max情节剧，情节极度夸张甚至到扭曲的程度，加入的一点点黑色电影的佐料与“双生”母题只为了铐牢命运施加给人物的枷锁，一方面向观众暗示了苦难的必然性，一方面指向了宗教救赎的可能性。

了解了melodrama的历史语境之后再看，就发现它意味很丰富，导演出身没落贵族，但是背弃自己的家庭背景投身革命，要为the people拍片，但是他不歌颂工人阶级，也不批判贵族阶级，更没有展现新兴的资本逻辑，只是在天主教的宿命论的锁链中讲述家庭，但又从来没有出现过一个完整的家庭。
