六十年代的美国人就已经开始探讨婚姻生活中婚外情这个敏感话题：如果出轨的双方只是贪图彼此的肉体，而非精神的结合，那么这种一夜情是可以原谅的，夫妻双方可以通过坦诚相待选择原谅。但若变成了日后的长期偷情呢？本片似乎并未提及。但导演和编剧的创作理念和想法还是值得称赞的，至少比我们现在思想领先几十年。戴恩坎农的出色表演把娜塔莉伍德活活衬成了大花瓶。
